In case of an accident in Bosnia and Herzegovina:

1. Traffic accident caused by vehicle bearing BIH registration plates

In case of traffic accident caused by a vehicle bearing BIH registration plates, damaged party should address the claim to the Insurance Company which the owner of the vehicle had concluded motor third party liability insurance with.

2. Traffic accident caused by vehicle bearing foreign registration plates

In case of traffic accident caused by a vehicle bearing foreign registration plates, damaged party should address the claim to Green Card Bureau in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Green Card Bureau in Bosnia and Herzegovina will, in accordance with applicable rules, assign victim´s claim to one of Insurance Companies, dealing with motor third party liability insurance, to handle the claim and will notify the claimant on submitted address.

3. Traffic accident caused by uninsured vehicle

In case of traffic accident caused by an uninsured vehicle (vehicle without compulsory motor third party liability insurance) or a vehicle with a foreign license plates that does not have a valid international proof of insurance in accordance with applicable rules, damaged party should address the claim to the relevant entity Guarantee Fund, depending on place where the accident occurred.

4. Traffic accident caused by unknown vehicle

In case of traffic accident caused by an unknown vehicle, injured party should address the claim to Guarantee Fund of FBIH or Guarantee Fund of RS, depending on place where the accident occurred. In this case, damaged party is entitled to compensation only in case of death or physical injuries.

5. Traffic accident caused by vehicle insured by Insurance Company which ceased to operate

In case of traffic accident caused by a vehicle insured by insurance company which ceased to operate, injured party should address the claim to Guarantee Fund of FBiH or Guarantee Fund of RS, depending on the place of Insurance Company’s establishment.

6. Traffic accident caused by motor vehicle of Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Since the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina is exempted from the compulsory motor third party liability insurance, in case of traffic accident caused by vehicle of Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, damaged party should address the claim directly to the Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

7. Traffic accident caused by vehicle of EUFOR

In case of traffic accident caused by a vehicle of EUFOR, damaged party should address the claim directly or via its insurance company to EUFOR Unit, which is in possession of the vehicle that caused the accident.

8. Traffic accident caused by a vehicle with license plates of international organizations

In case of traffic accident caused by a vehicle with license plates of an international organization (eg OSCE, EULEX, etc.) and a valid green card / IMIC damaged party should address the claim directly or via its insurance company to Green Card Bureau in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
